Austin can run, has tons of arm strength and can hit for power. Austin is not afraid to work in the weight room and work on getting better on the smaller details of his game. He is an outstanding kid who comes from an outstanding family." Congrats on behalf of the Canes family.

Canes coach Doug Collins had this to say about Hollowell. "Adron is a quality young man and a gifted baseball player. Usually when you think about a player one thing pops in your mind. The thing that always comes to mind with Adron is, this kid can swing the stick. He works very hard at the game and he can swing it from either side of the plate. He is also a very solid outfielder and RHP. He will be a great addition to a great baseball program at Louisburg. I look forward to following Adron the next few years as he is only going to get better." Congratulations to Adron and the entire Hollowell family.

2010 CANES RHP CORY RAMSEY COMMITS TO LONGWOOD
November 5th - Matoaca High School Product 2010 graduate and Hurricane Cory Ramsey recently made a commitment to the Longwood University Lancers baseball program. Canes Coach Jeff Petty had this to say about Ramsey "Cory has been one of our most consistent pitchers this year. What Coach Collins and I like about Cory is he keeps getting better. Cory is far from a finished product and his cieling is very high. He competes down in the zone with his fastball, curve-ball and change-up. If he misses, it is almost always down in the zone which has helped him be very effective for us this year. Recently, Cory was clocked at 89 mph in some tournaments for us this fall. The sky is the limit for Cory." Congrats to Cory and the Ramsey Family.
2010 SOUTH CANES PHILLIP COTTEN COMMITS TO BARTON COLLEGE
2010 South Cane and Fuquay-Varina High School standout Phillip Cotten has committed to play baseball for Barton College and Head Coach Todd Wilkinson. South Canes coach Doug Collins had this to say about Cotten. "Phillip has the ability to do so many things to help a team win. He has the ability to hit for power and average, has good speed, and a strong arm. He made one of the strongest throws from the outfield that I saw all year at a showcase at USC this summer. He threw an absolute laser from right field to nail a runner at the plate trying to tag up and score from third. I think Phillip has the ability to play OF, 2B, or 3B for Barton. He works very hard at the game and I cant wait to follow his progress over the next 4 years. One thing I love about Phillip is you never have to wonder if he will be ready to play. When he shows up to the yard, he's smiling, full of energy, and ready to play. It not hard to see when a kid truly enjoys playing the game, and he loves it. Phillip is a fine young man and I know his parents are very proud." Congrats to Phillip and the entire Cotten family.
SOUTH CANES LHP/OF BLAKE SIPE COMMITS TO RADFORD
South Canes and Fort Defiance High School product, Blake Sipe, has committed to play baseball for the Highlanders of Radford University and Head Coach Joe Raccuia. He's one of those players coaches love because he doesn't wait for something to happen, he makes things happen. He is a sparkplug that makes a team go. Blake is a tremendous young man that has been a true joy to coach. He plays extremely hard and is very tough on pitchers. He has a good approach at the plate and makes pitchers throw strikes. He's an outstanding outfielder that makes tough plays look routine. On the mound, he really knows how to pitch. He has a lot of movement on his fastball and a great breaking ball that bites down and in hard on righties. Blake definitely has the talent to be a two way guy at the next level." Congrats to Blake and his family. Blake will be with the Canes part-time this fall.

South Canes and North Davidson High School LHP, Kelly Secrest, has committed to play baseball for the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks and Head Coach Mark Scalf. South Canes Head Coach Doug Collins had this to say about Secrest. " Kelly is an outstanding young man and a quality left handed pitcher that competes extremely hard everytime he steps on the mound. His fastball sits in the mid to upper 80's with a good curveball and changeup to go with it. He is extremely tough on lefties, but with his changeup it allows him to be just as effective against righties. Great pickup for the Seahawks. Kelly has the ability to go in there and make an impact right away." Congrats to Kelly and his family and best of luck in the future. Kelly will be with the Canes throughout the fall season.
